Valsartan (trade name Diovan, Novartis International AG) is mainly used for treatment of high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, and to increase the chances of living longer after a heart attack. It is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (commonly called an ARB, or angiotensin receptor blocker), that is selective for the type I (AT1) angiotensin receptor.
Valsartan (Angiotan or Diovan) is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (more commonly called an ARB, or angiotensin receptor blocker), with particularly high affinity for the type I (AT1) angiotensin receptor. By blocking the action of angiotensin, valsartan dilates blood vessels and reduces blood pressure.
Valsartan is used clinical for receptor antagonist of angiotensin AT1, has good effect to the different degree of hypertension patients who used other antihypertensive drugs without efficacy , is a new generation of highly efficient antihypertensive drugs.
