Function and Application
1. L-glutamic acid is mainly used for the production of monosodium glutamate, spices, as well as salt substitutes, nutritional supplements and biochemical reagents. L-glutamic acid itself can be used as a drug, involved in the metabolism of proteins and sugars in the brain, and promotes the oxidation process. The product combines with ammonia to form non-toxic glutamine in the body, which reduces blood ammonia and relieves symptoms of hepatic coma. Mainly used for the treatment of hepatic coma and severe liver dysfunction, but the effect is not very satisfactory; combined with anti-epileptic drugs, can still treat epileptic seizures and psychomotor seizures. Racemic glutamic acid is used in the production of drugs, as well as biochemical reagents.
2. It is usually not used alone, but is used in combination with phenolic and anthraquinone antioxidants to achieve good synergism.
