Glycyrrhizic acid is derived from the roots and rhizomes of the legume licorice root and is the most important active ingredient in licorice. Glycyrrhizic acid is also known as glycyrrhizin or glycyrrhizin. It is a glycoside composed of glycyrrhetinic acid and 2 molecules of glucuronic acid. White to slightly yellow crystalline powder, no smell, with a peculiar sweetness, the sweetness is about 200 times that of sucrose.
