Deazaflavin powder is a pyridine-pyrimidine compound extracted from flavin, also known as vitamin B2. It is produced by replacing an aza group containing a nitrogen N element at the 5-position with a denitrifying group containing a carbon C element. This unique denitrifying substitution allows the 5-deazaflavin backbone to function similarly to the vitamin B3 backbone NMN/NAD+. Interestingly, while the backbone of vitamin B2 is chemically stable, deazaflavin has multiple substituents that can be transformed. Therefore, deazaflavin powder has a variety of unique chemical and physical properties that make it an attractive compound that can not only help protect cells from oxidative stress, but also promote the production of NAD+ in the body.
