Amikacin sulfate is a semi-synthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic. Its antibacterial spectrum is similar to that of gentamicin. It is effective against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Proteus. It is also effective against other resistant strains of aminoglycoside antibiotics.
