Function:
Esculin is used as a skin protectant in ointments and creams. This is a glucoside compound originally obtained from the leaves and bark of the horse chestnut tree.
1. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic: intraperitoneal injection of 10mg/kg in rats has an inhibitory effect on carrageenan, dextrose liver, serotonin and histamine "arthritis", and the inhibitory strengths are respectively 35,28,20,8%. It has also been reported that it has an inhibitory effect on formaldehyde-induced "arthritis", but the effect is weaker than that of carrageenan-induced "arthritis"; it also has no inhibitory effect on dextran-induced "arthritis" Obviously. It has inhibitory effect on the formation of rat granuloma (cotton ball method), the erythema reaction caused by ultraviolet radiation on the back of guinea pigs, and the increase of capillary permeability caused by histamine. It has a weak analgesic effect.
2. Effect on urine output and uric acid excretion: Various routes of administration can increase uric acid excretion in rats and rabbits. It has no diuretic effect on normal rats, but has a significant diuretic effect on mice.
3. Others: it has antibacterial, anti-coagulation and inhibition of aldose reductase of rat eye lens.
