Benproperine, chemically known as 1-[1-methyl-2 -(2-benzylphenoxy) ethyl] piperidine, is clinically used in the treatment of acute bronchitis and cough caused by various causes with its phosphate or dihydroxynaphthalate. Benproperine is a non-addictive strong cough antitussant with both central and peripheral effects, and has been widely used in clinical practice for a long time.
